Creator Olivia’s family has a slight addiction to lip moisturizers. Unfortunately, too many of these products have harmful chemicals and fragrances; and buying non-toxic brands was getting expensive. She learned she could make her own lip products using safe ingredients.
When the family fell in love with the lip butters, she shared them with friends and co-workers as holiday gifts. The reactions were incredible! People loved them and kept asking if they could buy more. Months later after research, perfecting her lip butter formulas and some necessary paperwork, OlyBella became a business.
The name is Olivia, but friends and family call her Oly. Oly is a proud mom, wife, and community leader. Outside of mixing and making lip butters, she has a full time job in the public sector; and helps run The Oly Girlboss Collective, a networking group for female entrepreneurs she co-founded with her friend and fellow entrepreneur Kathryn of Fashionably Frank Marketing.
It may surprise you that she doesn’t consider herself a “crafty” person – although her sisters call her the ‘hippie’ of the family because she drinks kombucha, heals herself with essential oils and is a “Greener”, aka a graduate from The Evergreen State College. First and foremost, Oly is a concerned mom. Her awareness about the importance of keeping toxins out of our bodies began when she had her first child.
Oly believes in her lip butters because she and her family (including her two young sons) use them every day. They love the way their lips feel silky smooth afterwards and are aware of every single ingredient that goes into them. She feels that the best part about making her lip butters is hearing the wonderful feedback from customers who love them – not because they are made with “good for you” ingredients – but because they enjoy the results.
Besides “Oly” being Olivia's nickname since childhood, it is also an abbreviation for Olympia, Washington where she makes her products. She loves her eclectic hometown!
"Bella" means beautiful in a few languages, but it is also the name of one very sweet dog Oly and her family were honored to love. Her first “baby” a Chow-Chow / Australian Cattle Dog, taught them about unconditional love, strength, acceptance, pure joy and how to enjoy every moment. Bella died of cancer in 2015. She radiated love and beauty everyday, so Oly is paying tribute to Bella's honor.
